Violist, Violinist & Music Educator based in Singapore
Jolene has a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the Royal College of Music (London)-Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) programme majoring in Viola Performance and was a recipient of the San San Music Merit Award (Degree). She also holds DipABRSM in Violin Performance.
Jolene first started her musical studies on the violin, and later adopted the viola as her main instrument during her final year pursuing Diploma in Music at NAFA. Her mentors include Marietta Ku, Kang Choon Sim and Ian Jewel, and she has performed in masterclasses conducted by eminent musicians David Strange, Florin Paul, Igor Yuzefovich, Kam Ning and Michael Ma.
Apart from performing with the NAFA Orchestra, New Music Ensemble and Project Strings while pursuing her studies at NAFA, Jolene has also performed with re: mix, the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra Singapore and ADDO Chamber Ensemble. She is also the resident musician and company manager of the Spot Pocket Opera Theatre (SPOT).
In 2017, she participated in the Nanyang International Music Competition (Singapore) in the Ensemble (Open) category and attained the silver award with her string quartet.
Having a passion for teaching and sharing the joy of learning music, Jolene conducts private music lessons for both adults and young children, and teaches violin enrichment classes and coaches the string ensemble in local primary schools.
